Omega Legal
Coming soon For Australian law practices and their clients

Advice, documents and sign-offs, confidential and in one place.

Omega Legal gives your firm a secure app for lawyers and staff, a free client portal for the people you act for, and encrypted video conferences. Every message, document and call is encrypted on the device that sends it.

  • Encrypted end to end
  • Free client portal
  • Keys stay on your devices
Two apps, one system

One app for the firm. A simpler one for clients.

Lawyers and the people they act for need different things from a messenger, so Omega Legal comes in two parts that talk to each other.

For your lawyers and staff

Omega Legal firm app

The working space for partners, solicitors, paralegals and the front desk.

  • Client conversations sorted by matter
  • Team chats for each matter
  • Drafts, advices and signed documents
  • Video conferences started from the chat
  • Display names and roles you choose, such as Partner or Settlements
For your clients

Omega Legal client portal

A private line to the lawyers a client has engaged, with nothing else in the way.

  • Free for clients
  • Connects only to the firms acting for them
  • Several firms and matters in the one portal
  • Documents to read, approve and sign in one place
  • Trust account details they can check before they pay
Client portal

Clients join by invitation from your firm.

When you open a matter, you send the client a code or a link. They install the portal, accept the invitation, and can message the matter team straight away. Nobody can search for your lawyers or staff, so the only people who reach you are clients you've invited.

A client with a conveyancer for the house and a family lawyer for a separation keeps both firms side by side in the one portal, with each matter in its own thread.

What your client sees

  • Your firm, the matter name and your lawyer's details
  • Advice, drafts and documents waiting for signature
  • Your firm's confirmed trust account details
  • Nothing about any other client or matter, ever
Payment safety

An answer to the fake bank details email.

Settlement funds are a favourite target for payment redirection fraud, where a forged email swaps in a criminal's account. In Omega Legal, your trust account details live inside the portal, sealed and tied to your firm, so a client can check them before every transfer.

Details sealed in the portal

Your trust account details are published once, inside the app, under your firm's name.

Changes need two people

Nobody at the firm can change payment details alone, and clients are told the moment anything changes.

Clients check before they pay

Clients compare the details in the portal with their banking app before they send funds.

Your firm

Your team, counsel and the other side's lawyers.

Omega Legal will replace the mix of email chains, text messages and personal chat apps that client matters often end up in.

Privilege and the law

Built around confidentiality and privilege.

Lawyers owe their clients a duty of confidentiality under the Australian Solicitors' Conduct Rules, and legal professional privilege can be lost through careless handling. Omega Legal is being designed to keep confidential communications confidential and to support your obligations under the Privacy Act 1988, the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme, and the Legal Profession Uniform Law or your state's legal profession legislation.

Trust accounting and file retention stay in your practice management system, where your regulator expects them. We'll publish a plain-English privacy and security statement for firms before launch.

Confidential by design

  • Lock screen alerts show a matter name and nothing else
  • Fingerprint or face unlock every time the app opens
  • Our servers hold no key that can read messages or documents
  • Australian firms' account details kept in Australia
  • Remove a staff member's access the day they leave
Security

Encrypted on your device. Opened only on theirs.

The keys that open your conversations are made on your own devices and stay there. Our servers pass sealed messages along and hold no key that can read them.

Your device seals it

Each message and file gets its own key before it leaves your phone.

Omega Legal relays it

Our servers store and deliver the sealed message without being able to open it.

Their device opens it

Only the devices it was addressed to can unwrap the key and read it.

Questions

What lawyers ask us.

Does Omega Legal replace my practice management software?

No. Your matter records, trust accounting, time recording and billing stay where they are. Omega Legal handles the conversations and the documents that travel with them.

What does it cost my clients?

Nothing. The client portal is free. A client who wants the full Omega messenger for their own use can upgrade inside the portal for a personal subscription.

Can we keep using email for some clients?

Yes. Use Omega Legal for the clients and matters where it helps most and keep email for everyone else. Conveyancing settlements and family law are good places to start.

Does using the app protect privilege?

Privilege depends on the purpose and content of a communication, and no app can decide that for you. Omega Legal keeps confidential communications confidential, which is one of the things privilege needs.

Where is our data kept?

Messages and documents are encrypted on the device that sends them and our servers can't open them. Account details for Australian firms are held in Australia.

Can clients reach us at any hour?

You set the firm's hours. Outside them, clients see your away message and an after-hours contact if you offer one.
